Navratna: Jewelry That Creates Harmony with the Cosmos

Navratna: Jewelry That Creates Harmony with the Cosmos

Nine (nava) + Gems (ratna) = Navratna, which represents the nine celestial bodies in our solar system that influences our lives on earth.

The gemstones themselves are thought to store cosmic rays. They perpetually release these rays and are recharged by the cosmic emissions of the celestial body they represent - similar to a battery.

Wearing the stones is meant to balance the universal energies influencing your life, as well as provide protection, good health, prosperity, and emotional well-being.

During ancient times, navratnas were primarily worn by maharajas in the for of an amulet - they were considered so potent, that not everyone had the privilege of wearing them.

To this day wearing navratna is considered to be extremely auspicious, with many brides choosing to wear the stones during their wedding. Counterintuitively, their multi-colored hues actually give them the ability to merge seamlessly with almost any outfit.

I've been attracted to navratna jewelry even before I knew its significance. Despite combining so many stones, colors and textures, navratna jewelry always looks exceedingly elegant to be - and very well balanced.

At Kahana we have interpreted the same stones and energies in a more modern context, to make our navratna pieces instantly more wearable across the facets of daily life. You can read more about them below:
